Abstract

This case presents a 57-year-old female patient with a severe hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state. The initiated rehydration and treatment with an insulin infusion pump led to an extremely rapid decrease in hyperglycemia. Despite the rapid correction of the hyperglycemic state, the patient remained neurologically stable throughout. The condition was successfully managed in the intensive care unit. This was her initial diagnosis of diabetes mellitus.
